louise-goncalves-sleep-consultant

If you’ve been surviving on broken sleep since your child was born, the reserves and euphoria that kept you going through the early months are probably feeling pretty depleted now. When night time parenting is tough, the tirednss and frustration can start to affect our enjoyment of daytime parenting too. Things are even harder if you don’t have family close by to offer practical support.

Lots of parents return to work during this stage, and this often the catalyst for needing to do something that will help everyone in the family get more sleep. What was just about manageable during parental leave, may feel less sustainable when a demanding job is added into the equation.

My sleep support packges are designed to give you the advice and support that you need to reach your sleep goals with confidence. Choose from 1 one-off trouble shooting call, a month of limitless support, or if you’d prefer some practical support, a 3-day home visit. If you’re unsure which package is right for you, book in a discovery call today and we can talk through your sleep goals, and how I can best support you in reaching these.

Gold package

Online 1:1 consultation + bespoke sleep plan + limitless support calls & messaging for 1 month

£395

gentle-sleep-consultant

This package is the most popular support option, and is designed to support families with more complex or long standing sleep challenges.

Typical sleep issues include:

  • Dependence on being rocked to sleep

  • Dependence on being fed to sleep

  • Frequent night waking

  • Difficulty settling to sleep

  • Nap resistance

This online sleep support package will give you the knowledge, confidence and support you need to help improve your child's sleep at a pace that’s right for you.

We'll start with a comprehensive review of your goals, your child's sleep challenges, and their overall health and well-being. If needed, we'll do some detective work to identify the issues that might be affecting their sleep.

With this understanding in place, I can talk you through the most appropriate and effective strategies and routines that will help you achieve your sleep goals.

Following our consultation, I'll write a bespoke sleep plan for your child. This will include suggestions for daytime routines and activities (if appropriate), a positive bedtime routine, as well as a summary of the techniques we have discussed for helping to settle your child to sleep at the start of the night and during the night.

Over the course of the month, I’ll be alongside you the whole way. You can call me or message me as much as you need. I’ll be on hand to answer questions, suggest tweaks to the plan, provide you with reassurance, celebrate successes, as well as keep you going through the tougher times. I know that it’s this support that parents really value, and this is why I don’t put a limit on how many support calls or emails I provide during this time.

What’s included:

✓ Holistic analysis of a 3-day sleep diary and questionnaire (pre consultation)

✓ A 90 minute 1:1 consultation via Zoom.

✓ A recording of your sleep consultation to listen back to in future.

  • Do you feel stuck in a rut of difficult naps, frequent night feeds, and fussy eating?

  • Would you like to establish a routine to make naps and meal times more predictable and manageable?

  • Would you like practical support to help you introduce a new way of settling to sleep and resettling throughout the night?

With this package, I’ll come and spend 3 days and nights with you to guide your child into an age-appropriate routine that will lead to better sleep, better feeding, and a happier baby! And with me with you during the days, we'll have time to chat through everything you need to know about sleep (and more!) so you'll be a sleep guru by the end!

This option is popular with parents who are about to return to work as we are often able to make significant progress within a short space of time.

Happy sleep stories

Are you wondering what it might be like to work with me? Jill and Candice have kindly shared their stories about the sleep challenges they faced, how I helped them, and what life is like now!

Jill, Stella’s mum

“We first contacted Louise shortly before Stella’s 2nd birthday. I’d fallen into the trap of breastfeeding her to sleep every night which worked like a charm in the early months, but got harder and harder as time rolled on.

She was waking 5 or 6 times a night and taking 15/20 minutes to fall asleep each time. Between working 4 days a week, running a house and looking after an active toddler I was at my wits end - but we never even considered letting her cry it out.

We were desperate for a kind approach and after reading about Louise online, felt sure she was ‘the one’! And we were right. Louise is a very calming presence in the home and our daughter (naturally shy around strangers) warmed to her at once. A parent whisperer as much as anything else, Louise gave my husband and I the tools and confidence to change Stella’s sleep habits in a gentle and supportive way. In just four nights, Stella slept through the night for the first time!

We’ve definitely had setbacks due to potty training, illness and growth spurts but for the most part, Stella now only wakes up once a night and is easy to settle - no boobs involved!”

Candice, Benji’s mum

I was recommended to Louise by a friend as I was at my absolute wits end. My son was 13 months at the time. He had been a bad sleeper since birth waking every 1 - 2 hours screaming inconsolably, and out of desperation I would bring him into our bed most nights so I could get a little more sleep but even then he would still wake up just as often.

I was still breastfeeding him to sleep a few times during the night which I really wanted to stop, but I didn’t know how else to get him to sleep and stay asleep. I was also struggling with his day naps too. He was grumpy, tired and miserable most days and didn’t eat much solid food. After over a year of very broken sleep, I was exhausted and desperate!

I had a Skype consultation with Louise and liked her instantly as she had a wonderful caring manner and made me feel comfortable and reassured. She helped get to the root cause of my son’s poor sleeping habits and put in place a plan to help fix it. She never once “told” me what to do; only suggested, supported and made me feel empowered to tackle it head on. She suggested a firm yet gentle approach which I was comfortable with. At no point did she ever suggest leaving him to cry it out which I was very happy about as I did not want to go that route.

After the first week of implementing Louise’s plan, he was totally night weaned and the night wakings became easier and shorter. By three weeks in, he was sleeping THROUGH THE NIGHT from 7pm - 7am in his own cot in his room with ZERO wakings and having a good 1 – 2 hour nap after lunch. I just couldn’t believe it!

I am so amazed that by making a few simple changes and implementing a good sleep time routine that he is now a different child who LOVES sleeping! He is also much happier during the day being well rested and is eating so much better which I’m thrilled about. Our lives have completely changed for the better and it’s all thanks to Louise. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She is a miracle worker! (2018)

2019 update: Our son is now almost 3 years old and has been sleeping through the night ever since every night for almost 2 years and counting (even through teething, holidays and illnesses) which shows that the plan she helped us to implement has made a lasting change. He wakes up singing to himself most mornings before we get him up which is so lovely! We have since had a second baby and feel we have the tools and confidence to encourage good sleeping habits with her too so we are so very grateful to Louise for all that she has done for our family!”

FAQs

best-toddler-sleep-coach-uk

I’m still feeding my toddler in the night - is this ok?

Contrary to what we’re often told, it’s completely normal for toddlers to feed at night. So, if feeding at night is working for you, and helping you get your little one back to sleep quickly, then please don’t worry about what other people might be telling you - you can be confident that what you’re doing is perfect for you and your child!

However, I totally get that sometimes the frequency of night feeds can start to feel less sustainable, especially as life gets busier. Everyone has their limits, and if you’ve been feeding every hour or two at night for months on end, it’s not surprising that you’re exhausted. You may want to completely night wean, or you might want to reduce to 1 or 2 feeds. Whatever your goal, I can help you get to where you want to be. I’ll talk you through the steps you can take, ensure you work at the pace that’s right for you, and help keep you feeling motivated and supported so that you reach your goal as easily as possible.

When we work together, I’ll talk you through strategies to help improve your toddler’s sleep and naturally increase the chances of them sleeping for longer stretches at night. As well as this, I’ll talk you through methods you can use to gently introduce other ways of settling, so that you can have an alternative to feeding when your they wake. Also, if your partner has previously struggled to settle your toddler at night (which is really common), I can talk them through strategies that they can use, so that  night time parenting can be shared between you a little more and some of the weight lifted off your shoulders.

We’ve got a holiday booked soon. Shall we start working on sleep now, or is it better to wait until we get back?

If you want to make changes either to where your toddler sleeps, how you are settling them, or how you respond in the night, I’d suggest you have at least 3-4 weeks where you can be at home at night and be consistent in your approach.

However, I know that 3-4 weeks can feel like a lifetime when you’re utterly exhausted! So, if you’d like to make a start on some easier tweaks that are likely to make a positive impact straight away, you can book your sleep package now and have the initial consultation straight away. During this call, we can discuss the easier changes you can make now, so that you can start making progress straight away. As well as helping you get some quick results, we’ll also be able to talk through some strategies to help sleep happen as easily as possible while you’re away.

If you book a Gold package, you can pause the support while you’re away, and get started back when you’re home to make the bigger changes to the middle of the night settling. With this, you get the best of both worlds! It’s worked really well for families that I’ve done this with before. If you’d like to talk it through before booking, just book a discovery call and we can discuss your plans.

My child is about to start nursery, and I’m about to start work - will it be too much to do sleep coaching at the same time?

Firstly, you’re definitely not alone - lots of parents reach out when they are about to return to work and I have extensive experience in supporting parents through this transition.

I would recommend my Gold package. With this, we can take things in stages, and work at a pace that is right for both you and your child. We’ll often start with focusing on optimising sleep as much as possible, with a particular focus on attachment, and supercharging your little one’s buckets of love and attention before bed. Often these small changes can bring about big positive changes to the night. From here, if needed, we can work on reducing feeds or introducing alternative settling methods. I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way with limitless support, helping you both get the sleep you need so that you feel your best entering this new chapter in life!

If I book the Gold package, what would happen if my child became ill during the month of support?

This is exactly why I offer a month of support with the Gold package. Over the course of a month, it’s inevitable that there will be a runny nose, and illness or a tooth coming through.  With a month of support, I’ll be able to help you navigate the ups and downs that can affect your child’s sleep, so that you feel confident to handle these challenges as your child gets older. If your child is more seriously ill (e.g. has a high temperature), we can pause the month of support, and restart when your child is better again.

Is your support really limitless with the Gold package?

Yes, it is! I know how much parents value this support, and this is why I make it limitless for the month. During the course of the month that we’re working together, you can book in as many telephone consultations as you need. We can use these calls to review your successes, talk through any challenges you’ve experienced, and agree actions to take forward.

As well as telephone support, we’ll have a what’s app group set up so that you can stay in touch on a day to day basis. I’ll reply to messages as soon as possible, (always within 12 hours), giving you access to all the information you need as you put your plan into place.

Unsure which package is right for you?

No worries! Let’s chat - we can talk through where you’re at with sleep at the moment, and what your goals are. I’ll tell you which package I think will be a best fit for you, and answer any questions you have. To arrange a call, you can either book a time directly in my diary here, or complete the form below and I’ll call you within 24 hours.

Not quite the right time?

I get it - sometimes, even when nights are tough, it’s just not the right time to make bigger changes. Let’s stay in touch though - if you pop your email below, I’ll send you some suggestions of small changes you can make to help you get more Zzz.
